Performance

The Outback offers the same robust all-wheel drive across all its variants. Two engine options cater to different performance needs, but both setups use a continuously variable transmission system.

The mainline Outback trims feature the company's 2.5-liter Boxer flat-four engine. By producing 182 horsepower, the engine gives drivers 176 pound-feet of torque and a towing capacity of 2,700 pounds. Queens, NY drivers can expect an EPA-estimated 26/32 mpg split for this powertrain's fuel economy.

Subaru also sells the XT trims for the Outback with a 2.4-liter version of the Boxer flat-four that includes a turbocharger. Rated at 260 horsepower, the engine yields 277 pound-feet of torque and up to 3,500 pounds of towing capacity.

With a generous 8.7 inches of ground clearance, the Outback excels in rugged terrain. The Wilderness trim offers an even greater ground clearance of 9.5 inches. Its advanced suspension and control systems enable effortless performance on all kinds of roads and trails outside of Brooklyn, NY.
